It was 1985, I was thirty-five, a new volunteer with RESULTS, an advocacy organization committed to ending hunger and poverty. I jumped in feet first, determined to make a difference, though I knew nothing about poverty, Congress or how a bill was passed. Something I couldn’t name was driving me to be a change agent in the world.
I’ve been sending you love notes about climate change for three years now, in the hopes that I will inspire, empower, and move you to action.
Is it working?
Talk to me. Tell me what you’ve learned.
Okay, I guess we’re still talking about solar panels, cuz apparently that’s what’s on your radar right now. So cool–let’s keep talking.
I bet it’s because we want to do something in the face of climate change. But what? I suspect that people want to be proactive; not passive bystanders. But how?
I think I hit a nerve with this go green conversation. Several people wrote after the last post. Some said, “Egads, I’m going in circles too, I just want someone to tell me what to do.” Others said, “Hey, I’ve got some swell ideas. Check out these links.”
So I figured, why not mash people up and get everyone talking to each other. Because, as we all know, it takes a (blogger) village.
It’s been a rough year for a climate warrior. Every day, something new to set us back. So many steps backward that I’ve gone into a surreal denial, shuttling the bad news to some dark corner of my psyche.
