A friend of mine came up to me after one of the shows: “I had no idea Sarah struggled so much. She’s always so full of life, so animated,” she said. “I’ve been going through a hard time, but I don’t talk about it. I can’t talk about it. But when Sarah so boldly told her truth, something opened up for me. Tell her thank you,” she said. She was crying.
It’s the end of the year. I’m taking stock. It’s ten-thirty in the morning and I’m still in my sweats and a T-shirt. My hair is uncombed and yesterday’s lipstick is wearing thin. I’m sitting at my computer, typing, deleting, typing deleting.
I’m super excited about this “symposium”—that’s really a fancy word for an amazing program. It will start with you in dialogue telling your stories—and end with a performance based on those stories. Between those bookends will be a conversation about climate change between me and Mark Reynolds, Executive Director of Citizens’ Climate Lobby. With an action item tucked in for good measure. I really, really hope you can make it! Be sure to RSVP, and then let me know if you’ll be there so I can start to get excited!
